Fort Bragg Drone Enclosure Installation: Enhancing Military Training
Introduction
The Fort Bragg drone enclosure installation project, completed in 2022, represents a major advancement in military drone training infrastructure. By creating a secure and flexible environment, our team enabled SCUAS operations without interfering with nearby airbase activities.
Project Overview
This large-scale drone enclosure at Fort Bragg, NC, was designed to support advanced military training. The goal was to allow instructors to train troops using drones at any time, without needing to coordinate with the air traffic control tower or request Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR).
Netting System Specifications
The enclosure measures 150 feet by 350 feet and stands 75 feet high. It features 1-inch polyester diamond netting, chosen for its durability and visibility. This netting ensures safe and realistic drone flight simulations.
Budget constraints were a key factor. By using wood poles and our modular enclosure system, we delivered a cost-effective solution that met all operational needs within the available funding.
Timeline and Execution
Although planning took time, the actual construction—from groundbreaking to completion—was completed in just 21 days in 2022, demonstrating our team's efficiency and commitment.
Safety Standards and Certifications
The enclosure supports Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) operations without disrupting nearby airbase flights. It also enables GPS signaling and guidance in an outdoor setting, meeting military safety standards.
Client Feedback
Personnel at Fort Bragg provided highly positive feedback, noting that the enclosure exceeded their expectations and fully supported their training needs.
