site preparation and early installation work to ensure long-term system performance.
Project Scope of Work (SOW)
The scope of this project includes a new barrier netting installation designed to improve safety and reduce
the risk of errant golf balls in a high-use practice environment. The system is engineered for durability and stability
using direct-set wood poles with crushed stone backfill, based on normal digging conditions.
- Barrier netting: 100 feet long Ă— 30 feet above grade
- Poles: Wood poles set to achieve 30 feet above grade
- Pole class and length: 40-foot Class H1 poles
- Installation method: Direct-set poles
- Backfill: Crushed stone
- Assumption: Normal soil and digging conditions
Netting projects succeed or fail at the foundation. By using direct-set poles with crushed stone backfill, this installation
supports proper drainage and long-term structural stability. This approach is especially important on golf properties
exposed to wind loads, weather changes, and year-round use.
Why Golf Range Barrier Netting Matters
A well-designed golf course safety netting system protects players, guests, staff, and nearby property
while preserving the aesthetics and playability of the facility. At active clubs, barrier netting helps manage risk in
areas where shot dispersion, wind, or proximity to roads and amenities increases the likelihood of a ball leaving the
intended play area.
Marietta Country Club features 27 holes of championship golf and a wide range of amenities. At a property
of this scale, safety infrastructure upgrades play a key role in supporting the overall member experience.
About Marietta Country Club
Founded in 1915, Marietta Country Club is a private, member-owned club located in
Kennesaw, Georgia. The club relocated to its current site near Kennesaw Mountain in 1990
and opened with an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Cupp. The course later expanded to
27 holes.
The club continues to invest in long-term improvements, including a multi-phase Main-18 renovation that began in
2025. These upgrades reflect the club’s commitment to maintaining a high-quality golf and practice
environment.
